Ex-Post Office boss Paula Vennells set to be questioned under oath about Horizon scandal

Vennells, who was stripped of her CBE for bringing the honours system into disrepute, will be questioned by MPs on the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Committee.

The scandal saw hundreds of sub-postmasters wrongly convicted of theft, fraud and false accounting after a new computer system, called Horizon, was installed in branches across the country.

Vennells was chief executive of the Post Office from 2012 to 2019.

She has previously said that she is "deeply sorry" for the suffering caused by the scandal.

However, she has denied any wrongdoing.

The BEIS Committee is investigating the scandal and is expected to publish its findings later this year.
